Our ancestors were all subsistence farmers. They grew grains and vegetables in the fields and kept cattle in the stable to provide milk and meat for the family.
The grain growing in the field was ground in the mill and then used to break bread on the farm. The mills stood by streams so that the grinders could be powered by the rushing water.
On our Maurerhof you still find one of these water-operated traditional flour mills and an original baking oven. The inviting place now also has a BBQ site. The stream is ideal for Kneipp water applications.
Once a week Peter shows you how rushing stream operates the mill wheel to grind grain to flour. The technique will excite you!
